For example, the characters in the U.S. version are just more like-able to me--cuddlier and all have a good side (in their own ways) despite how dysfunctional they can be, whereas the characters in the UK version just aren't as like-able. There are other shows from the UK I love--for example, Spaced. I totally "get" the sensibility of that show, and not a single joke flew over my head due to me not having lived in the UK.
