Shari - I tried them all and I eventually settled on a combination of watercolor-pencil (water soluble colored pencil) as the foundation, and then with pastel on top for large areas like eyeshadow, blush…etc. Acrylic is fine, but a PITA to work with as it dries fast or gets gummy easily. You can use retarder to slow it down, but it’s harder to achieve a uniform surface with thick paint. For tutorials, check the Junkyspot forums–they have some. That will then lead you to other sites on the internet.

Hi, I love the work you’ve done on the Ball-Jointed Dolls. I just purchased a couple of blank dolls from the Junky Spot. Do you happen to know of any on-line tutorials for getting started with painting? I’m having a hard time finding something that will tell me the ups and downs of acrylics vs pastels vs airbrush. Thanks so much! Your art is fantastic. ^_^

Yeah they are. Took forever to do each (I thought they’d be fast and easy). I had to raise the rates because they just took too long.

yeah, i think it’ll be alright, they seem like really honest genuine people to me.
I had real issues with all the details in there, the line art is super detailed, great challenge to color.

That’s good to know. I guess they just had a bit of trouble in this last round of production. Hopefully they’ll raise the funds soon and pay the artists.
