In the summer 2012, Elena and I moved back to the States for good. We bought a house in Lincoln, California, after doing a ton of reseach on weather, natural disasters, crime rate, air pollution, real estate market, and other factors. The weather is not as nice as the Bay Area (very few places on earth is), but it's much cheaper, and is a nice area (part of Placer County). Although this new home is a single-family-home and much bigger than our previous home, it isn't as nice in some ways, since our previous home was completely our own design, tailored to our ideal, while this house is someone else's design, and we have to make do with a lot of things that aren't ideal for us (unless we want to spend a lot of money doing extensive remodeling. We did so some light remodeling, but nothing too drastic, except for my studio).

Some of these exterior photos were taken before the bank took off the signs.

Nothing fancy about the garage--it's really just a glorified storage space to us. The car's just a used one from 1997. It was cheap, runs smoothly, and is reliable. Don't need anything fancier.

The garage door leads straight to the kitchen and the laundry room on the right.

The backyard landscaping was done pretty much by Elena herself. It took her almost six months to get it all done, and you can see the process and the before/after photos here.
